Getting Started with Alice
Overview
A computer program is a sequence of instructions that tell the computer what to do. Alice is a 3D animation software tool that can be used to learn how to design and write a computer program. Alice allows you to quickly create 3D models that have width, height and depth. It allows you to easily manipulate those objects to create ‘worlds’.
Learner Outcomes
At the completion of this exercise:
- You will understand what Alice is and how it was developed.
- you will understand how to make basic ‘worlds’ in Alice and manipulate the objects.
- you will Learn the basic elements of a flow chart and how to create one of you own
Activities
- Watch the following video
- Start Alice and go through the tutorial about the skater.
- Follow the tutorial in the handout (here) {link to pdf of appendix A}
- review the flowchart and create a flow chart that teaches a robot to walk.
